Breakfast at the HotelMorning, one hour boat ride across Bombay harbour brings
to the green and lovely Elephanta Island (MonDay Closed). Here visit some of
the huge and intricately carved cave temples that date back to the 8th century,
and which are dedicated to the Hindu Sun God - Shiva. Afternoon sightseeing
tour of Bombay. Visit the Prince of Wales Museum (MonDay closed) where you will
see an extensive collection of fascinating 18th & 19th century miniature
paintings; elegantly carved ivory artworks; and a rich collection of Nepalese
and Tibetan art, among other fine works of art. Also visit the Gateway of India
overlooking the Harbor; and the Dhobi Ghat, the unique and colorful outdoor
'laundry'. Drive upto the Malabar Hill to the lovely Hanging Gardens and the
Kamla Nehru Park from where you will get a wonderful view of Bombay and the
Arabian Sea spread out before you. Also visit Mani Bhavan, a small museum dedicated

Delhi is the city waiting to be explored, so enjoy! Afternoon, combined sightseeing
tour of the famous historical sights in Old & New Delhi, visiting the Raj
Ghat - memorial of Mahatma Gandhi. Drive past the Red Fort (1639-48) built by
the builder of The Taj Mahal - Shah Jehan; visit Jama Mosque - the largest mosque
in India; visit the Qutab Minar (72 m high) - one of the most perfect towers
of the Persian world. End the tour with a drive along the ceremonial avenue

04 : DELHI-JAIPUR

Day 05: JAIPUR
Breakfast at the HotelAfter breakfast, you will enjoy an excursion to Amer Fort
12 kms outside Jaipur. Enjoy the ascent to the palace on back of a brightly
caparisoned elephant. Tour the chamber and hallways of the palace which are
famous for their design and decorations. This unique capital of the erstwhile
warrior kings is a must on every tourist itinerary to the state. Also stop by
for a Photo session of HAWA MAHAL(PALACE OF WINDS)Afternoon you tour the walled
city of Jaipur a shopper's paradise famous for handicrafts, jewellery and list
goes on
. You also visit the unique Jantar Mantar magnificent stone
observatory built by Raja Jai Singh in 1728. The Hawa Mahal, the intriguing
" Palace of Winds" is really a facade built in 1799, to allow royal
ladies to view the city from the windows. Visit the City Palace, former royal
residence built in a blend of Rajasthani and Mughal style and its museums an
excellent collection of miniature paintings, costumes and armory. Overnight

Day 06 : JAIPUR-AGRA
Evening drive to Taj Khema, a small motel with beautifully manicured lawns,
sitting atop a hillock about 500 yards from the Taj Mahal gate. Enjoy Dinner
and experience the awesome and ethereal sight of the incomparable Taj Mahal
bathed in the light of moon. Overnight stay at the Hotel.

07 : AGRA- VARNASI
Breakfast at the Hotel.Transfer from hotel to the airport in time for flight
to Varanasi :

Arrive Varanasi and transfer top Hotel; enroute visit the buried Buddhist city
of Sarnath, northeast of Varanasi - it is as holy to the Buddhists as Varanasi
is to the Hindus. Having achieved enlightenment at Bodhgaya, Buddha came to
Sarnath to preach his message of the way to nirvana. Later, Ashoka, the great
Buddhist emperor erected magnificent stupas and monasteries at Sarnath..Arrive

Day 08 : VARANASI-KATHMANDU
Early morning, drive to Daswamedh Ghat and take a boat ride on the sacred river
Ganges. Continue by boat to see burning and bathing Ghats.Followed by sightseeing
tour of the holy city of Varanasi. Visit to some of the many Hindu Temples that
line the river Ganges. Stroll along the narrow lanes and bazaars full of shops
selling, among other things, the world-famous Banaras Silks. Breakfast at the

Day 09 : KATHMANDU
Breakfast at the hotel.Morning sightseeing tour of Kathmandu visiting the Durbar
Square to see the fine examples of Nepalese architecture in Kathmandu's Palaces
and pagodas. Also visit Ason Tole, a typical Nepalese market place.Afternoon,
drive through the Nepalese countryside and visit Patan, known as the "City
of Grace and Fine Arts". Here you will be able to see Patan's interesting
and beautiful pieces of art and architecture. Also visit the particularly interesting
Tibetan Refugee Craft Center.Also excursion to Bhatgaon (Bhaktapur- the City
of Devotees) is a Centre of medieval art and architecture. Visit Durbar Square

10 : KATHMANDU-LHASA (TIBET)

Breakfast at the Hotel.Full Day sightseeing of Lhasa.Sera Monastery: Located
outside of Lhasa city proper is the home for 155 monks. It commands a spectacular
View of Lhasa from its location at the foot of the Wudu Mountain. Drepung Monastery
: This ancient structure is said to be largest monastery in the World which
once housed 10,000 Lamas.Overnight at Hotel Lhasa
Day 12 : LHASA
Breakfast at the HotelFull Day sightseeing visiting :Potala Palace : a fortress
built atop Red Hill in the seventh century which over the years became 13 story,
100 rooms citadel to the primary of Buddhism of Tibet. Lokhand Temple: This
oldest Buddhist temple in Tibet (1300 years old) contains Tibet's most precious
replica golden Shyakamuni Buddha, a gift of the Chinese princess Wen Cheng.
This relic is displayed in the Great Hall and is still sought out by the religious

01 : ARRIVE DELHI
BY: INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT
Meeting and assistance on arrival at the International airport and transfer
to hotel. HOTEL CHECK-IN TIME 12 NOON.
1400 hours Combined sightseeing tour of Old and New Delhi visiting the Raj
Ghat - the memorial at the site where Mahatama Gandhi was cremated; drive
past Red Fort - once the most opulent fort and palace of the Moghul Empire;
Jama Mosque - the largest mosque in India; Humayun's Tomb, the Qutub Minar,
drive along the ceremonial avenue - Rajpath, past the imposing India Gate,

Day 02: DELHI-KULLU-MANALI
0800 Hours Breakfast at the hotel.

Meeting and assistance at Bhuntar airport upon arrival and drive (45 Kms

Day 03: MANALI (2050 Mts.)
0800 Hours Breakfast at the hotel.
0900 Hours Full Day sightseeing in and around Kullu Valley. Visit the Manali
bazaar, Hadimba Devi Temple, Vashist Hot Springs and Naggar Castle. Driving
around the lush green and fertile valley is an experience in it self. Short
walks are recommended, to help your body acclimatise to the altitude. OVERNIGHT
AT THE HOTEL.

04: MANALI-JISPA (3300 Mts.)
Start your overland journey and drive (145 Kms. 7-8 hrs) to Jispa. This high
altitude road beyond the great Himalayan range, connects the densely fertile
and green Kullu valley to the stark barren region of Ladakh. The drive starts
at Manali slowly winding up mountain roads till Rohtang Pass at 3,950 Mts.,
which connects the Kullu to the Lahaul valley. On entering the Lahaul valley
we see a distinct change with the Hindu influence being replaced with the Buddhist
religion. We reach Jispa by late afternoon.OVERNIGHT IN TENTED ACCOMMODATION.
Day 05: JISPA
Relax and acclimatise at Jispa. Also drive back 18 Kms to Keylong and walk over
to the Kardang Monastery, famous for its Tankha paintings. Return to Jispa for
overnight. OVERNIGHT IN TENTED ACCOMMODATION.
Day 06: JISPA-SARCHU (4200 Mts.) (80 Kms. 4 hrs)
Leisurely start to drive over the scenic Baralacha Pass (4880 Mts.). Plenty
of stops to capture the scenic grandeur of this majestic landscape dotted with
snow capped peaks and high altitude lakes. After crossing the pass drop down
to the vast Sarchu plains at an altitude of 4200 Mts. OVERNIGHT IN TENTED ACCOMMODATION.
Day 07: SARCHU-RUMTSE (3505 Mts.) (171 Kms. 7 hrs)
Cross the Tsarap Chu River and climb steeply to cross the Lachlung La pass (5065
Mts.). We then descend to the Pang plateau, which is the abode for the Kiang
(Tibetan wild ass), perhaps the fastest animal at these altitudes. After the
plateau we climb to the Tag Lang La pass (5292 Mts.). The second highest motorable
road in the world this pass gives way to beautiful vies of the Karakoram Mountains
and the Ladakh valley. Descend till Rumtse and camp overnight.

Day
08 : RUMTSE-LEH (3500 Mts.) (85 Kms. 4 hrs)
Leisurely drive along the scenic Indus valley. Enroute stop over to visit the
famous Hemis, Thiksey and Shey monasteries.
HEMIS MONASTERY:
Situated just off the Manali-Leh Highway, Ladakh's biggest and wealthiest monastery
is situated on the Leh - Manali road. It's popularity stems from the annual
festival held here in summer. The festival coincides with Guru Padma Sambhava's
(Buddha) birthDay. It contains quite a few statues in gold and Stupas decorated
with precious stones. It has a superb collection of Tankhas, including one,
which is supposed to be the largest in existence and is exhibited only once
every 12 years.
THIKSEY MONASTERY: 19 Kms from Leh, Thiksey is one of the largest and most impressive
Gompas of Ladakh. The Thiksey monastery provides a panoramic view of the green
Indus Valley from its vantagepoint atop a hill. It has chambers full of statues,
Stupas and colourful Tankhas.
SHEY PALACE AND MONASTERY: This summer palace of the erstwhile King of Leh is
set upon a hill. The monastery itself has a 7.5-meter high, copper statue of
a sitting Buddha, wrought in gold. This is the largest of its kind in the world.

Day 09 : LEH
Morning excursion to Stok Palace. It is a one-hour drive from Leh to Stok. Dominating
Stok is the royal palace. The museum in Stok palace is a show piece for the
royal thanks while the collection of turquoise head friezes worn only for royal
wedding is the most impressive in Ladakh. Afternoon sightseeing tour of Leh
town visiting Shankar Gompa - situated 3 kms from Leh. The monastery has innumerable
small statues of pure gold and a number of interesting paintings. Proceed to
the Leh monastery and Leh palace. Walk around the Leh bazaar. OVERNIGHT AT THE
HOTEL.

10 : LEH
Day free for independent activities to explore in and around Leh on your own.
Evening attend local Ladakhi cultural show. OVERNIGHT AT THE HOTEL.
Day 11 : LEH-DELHI

LAMAYURU MONASTERY EXTENTION
Day 09: LEH/ LIKIR / ALCHI / ULETOKPO: (03 hours) Drive to Uletokpo,
Enroute visit
Likir and Alchi monastery.
LIKIR MONASTERY:
Founded at the same time as Spitok and Thiksey, Likir is recognised as the foremost
Delgupta monastery in Ladakh region. It is found near Saspol on the Srinagar
- Leh road. It houses a great deal of gigantic clay statues of the Buddha in
various forms; the primary attraction of this monastery is its 1000-year-old
wall paintings, which made a visit more than worth while.
ALCHI
MONASTERY:
The monastic complex at Alchi was built in the 11th century. Its sheltered position
in the Indus valley, off the main trails to Leh, is probably the major reason
why it survived wars and abandonment to the elements. It is the best surviving
example of the era and is notable because it was built down in a valley instead
of on a hilltop or mountainside.

Day 10 : ULETOKPO / LAMAYURU / ULETOKPO (06 hours)
Visit to the famous Lamayuru monastery and back to Uletokpo. Lamayuru is by
far the oldest monastery in Ladakh. Initially a Bon monastery it is now the
highest seat of Buddhism in Ladakh.

SCENIC FLOAT DOWN THE INDUS (OPTIONAL TOUR)
Day Excursion: Drive 40 Kms to Hemis. Raft down one of the most placid and scenic
sections of the Indus valley. Float through the wide and colourful valley flanked
by villages and monasteries on each side. Finish raft ride after 4 hours at
Spituk monastery and drive 15 Kms to Leh town.

HIGH ALTITUDE DESERT LAKE SAFARI
The high altitude plateau of Ladakh and Rupshu has a colourful and diverse landscape.
Barren mountainsides are often interspersed with beautiful crystal clear spring
and glacier fed lakes. These lakes often resemble jewels imbedded in a necklace
of snow capped Himalayan peaks. A visit to these lakes provides a traveller
with an enchanting experience of natural beauty found no where else.

Day 03 : LEH
Morning excursion to Stok Palace. It is a one-hour drive from Leh to Stok. Dominating

Buddha, wrought
in copper and gold.

Day 05 : LEH-TANGTSE
Driver approximately 06 hours to Tangtse over Chang - La (17,500 ft) which is
the second highest motorable road in the world. OVERNIGHT IN TREKKING CAMP.
Day 06 : TANGTSE-LUKUNG (32 Kms, 03 hours)
Drive approximately 03 hours to Lukung. It is a lovely camping ground situated
in the Chang Chominu valley. It is situated on the north-western end of Pangong
Tso Lake. Overnight in camp next to stream, which flows into the Pangong Lake.
OVERNIGHT IN TREKKING CAMP.
Day 07 : LUKUNG
ToDay visit the beautiful Pangong Lake. Located at 14, 500 ft. It is the largest
lake in Asia, a part of which extends to the Chinese territory. The word Pangong
means "Lake of the great hollow". One can also spot a lot of birds
and local wild life here.
OVERNIGHT IN TREKKING CAMP.
Day 08 : LUKUNG-TANGTSE (32 Kms. 03 hours)
Drive back to Tangtse from Lukung. OVERNIGHT IN TREKKING CAMP.
Day 09 :TANGTSE / CHUMATHANG (07 hours)
Drive back over Chang La to Chumathang via Karu. Chumathang is a small village
situated on the right bank of the river Indus, just below its confluence with
the Puga river. Chumathang is famous for it's hot sulphur springs. OVERNIGHT
IN TREKKING TENTS.
Day 10 :CHUMATHANG-KARZOK (05 HOURS) 14,900 ft
A small population of nomadic shepherds called Changpas occasionally inhabits
this scenic drive through the barren and desert landscape. This region is rich
in wildlife, which includes the Tibetan Wild Ass (Kyang), Red Fox and the almost
extinct Snow Leopard. Black Necked cranes and Geese are also found in abundance
around lakes in this region. After about an hour we cross over the Mahe Bridge
and drive on via the Thazang lake to the picturesque village of Karzok. Karzok
is a small village with about 100 families residing here. Situated at 14900
ft above sea level, Karzok is only 1 Km from the shores of the lake. The village
is safeguarded by a 350-year-old monastery overlooking the lake and the Monastery.
OVERNIGHT IN LAKE SIDE TREKKING CAMP.
Day 11: KARZOK
Full Day to relax and walk around the Tso Moriri lake. The lake is situated
in the middle of the Rupshu plateau. The name literally means "MOUNTAIN
LAKE" as it is nestled in the midst of 20,000 ft high peaks. OVERNIGHT
IN LAKE SIDE TREKKING CAMP.
Day 12 : KARZOK-PELDO-TSO KAR ( 04 hours) 14,900 ft
Drive via the village of Peldo, to Tso Kar (White Lake). The name is given because
of the salt deposits around the lake. Tso Kar is a haven for migrating Geese
and Duck. OVERNIGHT IN TREKKING TENTS.
Day 13 : TSO KAR- LEH
Drive
over the Tag Lang La pass (17,400 ft.) to the town of Leh. On arrival check
in to your hotel. OVERNIGHT IN HOTEL.
Day 14 : LEH-DELHI
Transfer from hotel to airport in time for flight:- Departure: Leh At: 1135
