01 : ARRIVE MADRAS

Day 02: MADRAS Breakfast at the
Hotel.Morning, excursion to Mahabalipuram - an ancient coastal port - south
of Madras. Here you will see many sculptures and temples of typical South
Indian architectural design; the Five Rathas - a group of monolithic
monuments and animal figures carved out of solid rock; the Shore Temple,
lashed by the waves of the sea; and the huge frescoe, "The Penance of
Bhagirath".Afternoon, sightseeing tour of Madras to see some of the
highlights of India's fourth largest city. Visit the National Art Gallery
and Museum, which house some beautiful temple friezes and South Indian
bronzes; the Cathedral of San Thome; the Mylapore Temple, and St Mary's
Church. (Museums are closed on Fridays and National Holidays).Overnight stay

Day 03 : MADRAS-PONDICHERRY Breakfast
at the Hotel.Morning drive from Madras to PondicherryDrive from Madras to
Pondicherry (162 kms/4 hours). On arrival check-in at: HOTEL Afternoon
sightseeing tour of Pondicherry, visiting the Auroville. Conceived as a
tribute to Sri Aurobindo, Auroville is an entirely new concept in education
and urban living; Sri Aurobindo Ashram - known to the world over as "Centre
of Integral Yoga". It was founded by Sri Aurobindo, India's patrict
philosopher around 1920.Overnight at the Hotel.
Day 04 :
PONDICHERRY-TANJORE-TRICHY Breakfast at the hotel.Drive from
Pondicherry to Tanjore (177 kms/5 hours) - where you will stop to visit
temples built during the 10th and 14th centuries. Later it became part of
the Vijaynagar Kingdom, then passed into the hands of the Marathas and went
to the British.Continue your drive to Trichy (54 kms/1.5 hours) and upon
arrival check-in at: HOTEL Afternoon city tour of Trichy (Tiruchirapalli).
The Rock Fort rises abruptly to a height of 273 ft. A steep staircase cut
into the rock leads upto the Fort. At the first level are the remnants of a
huge hall blasted into ruins in 1772. The next storey is the
Mathrubhuteshwarer Shrine dedicated to Shiva. Finally at the top of the
hill, the Ucchi Pillayar Koil- a Ganesh Temple offering a commanding view of

Day 05: TRICHY-MADURAI
Breakfast at the Hotel.Morning city tour of Trichy (Tiruchirapalli). The
Rock Fort rises abruptly to a height of 273 ft. A steep staircase cut into
the rock leads upto the Fort. At the first level are the remnants of a huge
hall blasted into ruins in 1772. The next storey is the Mathrubhuteshwarer
Shrine dedicated to Shiva. Finally at the top of the hill, the Ucchi
Pillayar Koil- a Ganesh Temple offering a commanding view of the
city.Afternoon drive from Trichy to Madurai (128 kms/3.5 hours). Madurai -
is an animated city packed with pilgrims, baggers, business people, bullock
carts and legions of under employed rickshaws - wallas. On arrival check-in

Day 06 : MADURAI Breakfast at the Hotel.Morning, proceed for a
sightseeing tour of Madurai. The primary interest is the Meenakshi Temple,
where Dravidian temple architecture may be considered to be at its best. Its
Hall of a Thousand Pillars is fabulous and is filled with worshippers at all
hours of the day. Also visit the Tirumal Nayak's Palace, which is a highly
decorative monument.Evening Visit the Meenakshi temple to witness the

Day 07 :
MADURAI-PERIYAR Breakfast at the hotel.Drive from Madurai to
Periyar (137 kms/4.5 hours). On arrival check-in at: HOTEL Afternoon

Day 08 : PERIYAR
Breakfast at the hotel.Morning, cruise in the Periyar Lake in the cool
surroundings and the panorama spreads around - tropical jungles, wild
Elephants, Indian Gaur, Monkeys, spotted Deer, Barking Deer, Wild Boar and
birds of myriad varieties. With an area of 777 sq. km the wildlife sanctuary
lies at an elevation of 914 meters to 1828 meters above sea level on the
Periyar Lake in the hills of Western Ghats.Afternoon free TO EXPLORE THE

Day 09 :
PERIYAR-COCHIN Breakfast at the hotel.Drive from Periyar to Cochin
(236 kms/6 hours) and upon arrival check-in at: HOTEL .
Afternoon,
sightseeing tour of Cochin, visiting the Jewish synagogue (closed on
Saturdays), built over 400 years ago. It contains beautiful Belgian glass
chandeliers, and is paved with hand painted tiles from China. Visit the "Dutch
Palace" (closed on Fridays) with its wonderful murals depicting the
entire story of the Ramayana on its walls. See St Francis Church, (closed on
Sundays) the first European Church built in India.OVERNIGHT AT THE HOTEL.
Day 10 : COCHIN-OOTY Breakfast at the Hotel.Morning Drive
from Cochin to Ooty (281 kms/7 hours).On arrival check-in at: HOTELRest of

: OOTY-MYSORE Breakfast at the Hotel.Morning city sightseeing tour
of Ottacamund. Located in the heart of the Nilgiris (Blue Mountains), at a
height of 2,287 m, it lies on a plateau and looks like a vast park. To the
northwest of Ooty, are splendid towns resembling those of Sussex. While to
the west, south and southwest, lofty hills add to the grandeur of the
scenery. Visit the terraced Botanical Gardens, which are a landmark in Ooty
and have many rare trees and flowering plants.Afternoon Drive from Ooty to
Mysore (158 kms/5 hours).Arrive Mysore and Check in at HOTEL.Mysore, the
city of Palaces - 17 in all. Although no longer a princely state, it retains
its old charm and many buildings are adorned with domes, turrets and
impressive archways. Also known as "Sandalwood City" it is a major
center for the manufacture of incense so that the air is often sweet and
fragrant. Its fairly high altitude (770 m) accords it a pleasant climate
visitor and there is much to see from Maharaja Palaces to the best fruit and

12 : MYSORE Breakfast at the Hotel.In the morning we will proceed
for a sightseeing tour of Mysore. Up on a hill overlooking the city is the
temple to Chamundeswari, its patron goddess. We also visit the Zoological
Gardens and Sri Chamundeshwari Temple, overlooking Mysore from 1062 metres
summit of Chamundi Hill. The St. Philomena's Church, one of the largest
church in the county, in the Victorian gothic style.In the evening we drive
to the Brindavan Garden, beautifully illuminated daily, truly a pleasure

13 : MYSORE-HASSAN
Breakfast at the Hotel.Drive from Mysore to
Hassan (115 kms/4 hours) enroute visiting Sravanabelagola. It is one of the
oldest and most important Jain pilgrimage centres in India and site of the
huge statue of Lord Bahubali (Gomateshvara) which, at 17 metres high and
carved out of a single piece rock, is said to be the world's tallest
monolithic statue. It stands on top of the rocky hill.Continue your drive to
Hassan and upon arrival check-in at: HOTEL.Afternoon sightseeing tour of
Belur and Halebid which is the finest examples of Hoysala Art. The soft
stone used by builders was chiselled with the same fineness of detail as is
found in the ivory and wood craftsmanship of the area. The temple at Belur
is famed for its profusely ornamented exterior, and the one at Halebid for
its sculptured figures and open air museum. Also visit the colossal
monolithic Jain Statue, 57-ft high, which stands on top of a steep bare

Day 14 :
HASSAN-BANGALORE-BOMBAY Breakfast at the hotel.Drive from Hassan to
Bangalore (187 kms/5 hours).On Arrival we proceed for a sightseeing tour of
Bangalore, excursion to Cubbon Park laid out in 1864, 300 acres of verdant
park-land from the heart of the Bangalore city. The Bangalore Palace, built
by the Wodeyer ruler of Mysore over a 100 years ago, the unusual structure
of granite, the palace is modeled on the Windsor Palace. The Fort and Tipu
Sultan's Palace, a collection of memorabilia of the 18th Century. We also
visit the Government Museum and Venkatappa Art Gallery - one of the oldest
in the country, established in 1886 adorned with relics from Mohenjodaro
period. We drive past the Vidhana Soudha, High Court and the Bull
Temple.Departure transfer in time to Airport to connect flight for BOMBAY.

Day 15 : BOMBAY

at the Hotel.Morning, we begin our tour from the "Prince of Wales Museum"
(closed on Mondays)."The Gateway of India" Mumbai's foremost landmark
overlooking the harbour was conceived following the visit of King George V in
1911 and officially opened in 1924. Also visit "St. George's Church"
, built in 1847, also known as Afghan Church, dedicated to the soldiers who
fell in the Sind Campaign of 1836 and first Afghan war of 1843. Other attractions
include the Mani Bhawan, a small museum dedicated to the life and works of Mahatma
Gandhi. We drive up the Malabar Hill, to the lovely hanging gardens, the Kamla
Nehru Park, The Dhobi Ghat - a unique colorful outdoor "laundry" and
the bustling Crawford market.Check-out time 1200 Hrs. Late evening Transfer

Afternoon sightseeing tour of Madras city
starting with a visit to Saint Mary's Church (1678 - 80), the spiritual and
physical centre of the original settlement and the oldest surviving building
in the East associated with the Anglican church. Visit the famous museum
(Museums are closed on Friday and National Holidays) that house a fantastic
collection of medieval artillery, regimental flags, weapons and armour. Also
visit the St. George Fort built in 1644 which lies on the sea shore
immediately north of the island. This now forms the nucleus of the
Secretariat. Drive along the Marina, which is one of the most beautiful
marine promenades in the world and contains a series of impressive private
and public buildings. End the tour with a visit to Kapaleshvara temple. This
is the largest and the most important Shiva complex in Madras. OVERNIGHT AT

Day 03 :MADRAS Morning excursion to
Kanchipuram (70 kms). One of the holy cities of Hinduism, is Kanchipuram.

04: MADRAS-BANGALORE-HASSAN Transfer from hotel to the Railway
Station in time for:

Bangalore at 1050 hours (Train operates daily except Tuesday). Meeting and
assistance upon arrival at the Railway Station and proceed for a sightseeing
tour of Bangalore visiting the Lalbagh botanical gardens which lies on the
southern edge of the town and covers an area of 237 acres. Also visit
Vidhana Soudha, a huge neo-Dravidian granite building which houses the
secretariat and the state legislative. It is one of the most impressive
modern buildings in India. The huge door to the entrance of the cabinet room
is made of pure sandalwood.Later drive from Bangalore to Hassan (190 kms/5

05: HASSAN-COORG
Morning sightseeing tour of Belur and Halebid,

walk around plantation where there is likely hood of spotting wildlife like

Day 06:
COORG-MYSORE Drive from Coorg to Mysore (100 kms/2.5 hours) enroute
visiting Sravanabelagola. It is one of the oldest and most important Jain
pilgrimage centers in India and site of the huge statue of Lord Bahubali

fabulous and is filled with worshippers at all hours of the day. Also visit
the Tirumal Nayak's Palace which is in a highly decorative monument at
Thebes. Its enormous roofted arcade supported by 48-foot-high stoned pillars
still stands; and griffins, lions and other monster gargoyles are to be seen

visiting Trichy Tiruchirapalli).The next storey is the Mathrubhuteshwarer

15 : TANJORE-PONDICHERRY
Morning, city sightseeing tour of Tanjore
where you will stop to visit temples built during the 10th and 14th

Library.Afternoon drive from Tanjore to Pondicherry (177 kms/5 hours)
enroute visiting Chidambaram, which is famous for Sri Natraja Temple. The
Pallava, Chola and Pandya, and Nayak rulers built a number of temples and
monuments in this area. There are sculptural representations of the 108
postures relating to Natya Sastra or Science of Dancing in the
